Jacaranda UK Foundation
What our grants are used for, where our income comes from, and what impact it has.
The majority of our income thus far has come from individual donations, and the resulting gift aid. These are a mixture of regular donors and those who raise money by taking part in events (such as The Vitality Big Half, or the London Marathon) and get sponsored for us. We are extremely grateful to all our individual donors, you allow us to plan for the future safe in the knowledge that regular donations will be coming in. We hope to continue to increase the number of regular donations moving forwards, and are always looking for people who want to do sponsored events for us.
We have not yet tapped into the potential of grants from Trusts and Foundations. This will hopefully be our main area of growth in the coming years, as it is one we have not explored in much depth so far, and we plan to devote significant focus on it over the next 18 months.
Our total grants have increased annually since we were founded in 2015. Consequently, we have been able to fund increasing amounts of teachers' salaries at the Jacaranda School for Orphans
In 2018 we funded four months of salaries for primary and secondary school teachers, as well as for the ground and security staff that help ensure that the Jacaranda School for Orphans is kept safe, and run as efficiently as possible, so funds go as far as possible.
Our mid-term goal is to cover six months of salaries at the primary and secondary schools, including ground and security staff. That would require us to generate approximately £50,000 of revenue annually.
